Terbinafine is considered to be more effective than Itraconazole in
treating the toenail infections. The research conducted under
sponsorship of Novartis has proved that it is a best medication to
treat fugal infections. Terbinafine has oral and topical
formulations. The oral preparation was first introduced in 1991 in
United Kingdom and it was approved in1996 for clinical use.
Terbinafine is manufactured by Novartis Pharmaceuticals, the trade
name being Lamisil. Cipla Pharmaceuticals manufactures terbinafine
marketed in the name of Terbicip 250 mg. Each uncoated tablet
contains terbinafine hydrochloride which is equal to Terbinafine
250mg. These Terbicip tablets are blister packed and it is a pack of
seven tablets. Mylan Pharmaceuticals also manufactures Terbinafine
Hydrochloride tablets 250mg, the generic version of Novartis Lamisil
® tablets.
Terbinafine Hcl is effective in treating fungal infections. Recent
research has indicated its effectiveness in treating the fungal
infections when compared to Itraconazole. If the dosage is taken
according to the prescription the results will be good. If a right
dosage is taken under the guidance of a doctor the fungal infections
can be cured.
It would take several months for the nails to look normal in case if
this drug is administered to treat fugal infections of nails. The
topical Terbinafine for application on the skin is available in the
form of cream, jelly, spray and solution. There are many
